Where was God on September 11?

It's so hard to believe that a year has passed since the tragic day last year when over 3,000 people lost their lives and 10,000 children lost a parent.

In considering the Anniversary, I came across the following article that I liked on Catholic Exchange. I really like the images about where God was on Sept. 11.

I had a very dear friend question my faith in God right after the terrorist attack on America. His question was simply put, "Where is your God today?"

He was very hurt, as all Americans were, so I tried not to react defensively. Since that moment I have prayed and grieved over the disastrous events. However, I believe I have the answer. I know where my God was the morning of September 11, 2001! He was very busy.

First of all, he was trying to discourage anyone from taking the doomed flights. Those four flights together had a maximum potential capacity of over 1,000 passengers ? but there were only 266 aboard.

He was also on the flights comforting the terrified passengers and enabling them to remain calm. Not one of the family members who received calls from a loved one aboard one of the hijacked planes reported hearing passengers screaming in the background. On one of the flights, He was giving courage and strength to passengers trying to overtake the hijackers.

He was also busy creating obstacles for employees en route to the World Trade Center. After all, only around 20,000 were inside the towers when the first jet hit. Since the buildings house over 50,000 workers, this was a miracle in itself at nine in the morning on a business day. Consider how many people who were employed at the WTC told the media they were late for work or experienced traffic delays that day.

God was holding up two 110-story structures so that two-thirds of the 20,000 could get out. It is amazing that the top of the towers didn't crumble when the jets first impacted!

Although this is without a doubt the worst thing most of us have seen in our lives, God's miracles are evident in every aspect of it. How can anyone possibly go through such a difficult time without faith in God?
