It seems every time that I pull into a gas station driving someone else's car, I wind up pulling up to the wrong side of the pump.
If I think the tank is on the left (like my car), then without question the tank will be on the right side. If I pull up on the right side, then the tank is on the left.
It's very frustrating.
To make matters worse, I recently pulled into a station - realized that the tank was on the other side, so I pull forward and turn left in a U-turn around the pumps. I then get out and realize that I am an idiot because I AM STILL ON THE WRONG SIDE!
It really shouldn't take more than two tries to get that right. At first I thought, "How can the tank still be on the wrong side?! I turned around. Something must be screwed up with these %^&@! pumps!"
I guess it could have been worse. I imagined driving in circles around and around the pumps saying "They still are on the wrong side! Screw it, I'm going to another gas station!"
Fortunately, I came to my senses and solved this complex puzzle.
I sure have come a long way. In 1983, I solved the rubik's cube. In 2005, I solved the riddle of the gas pump.
