Pentagon: Top al-Qaida Operative Escaped

So am I the only one who thinks that this guy was killed instead of escaping?

It sure seems like there have been alot of unexplained deaths related to this case of alleged abuse.

So is the Pentagon guilty of:

1. Incompetence in allowing a top al Qaida operative to escape, or
2. Murdering a detainee to cover up their actions?

Neither choice seems all that great to me.
