Proving that activism works, the West Virginia House of Delegates Judiciary Committee recommended passage of HB 4023 on Friday, which would raise the state's minimum wage to $5.85 per hour in July 2006, to $6.55 in 2007 and $7.25 in 2008. This would be the first raise in the minimum wage in 9 years.
This is a great step towards economic justice for West Virginia's working poor, but the bill still has a long way to go before becoming law. We need to keep telling our representatives that workers deserve a living wage.
Expecting a family to survive and support their children on full-time wages of $10,712 per year, a wage that keeps them in poverty despite working full-time, is a moral failure for our country. Our workers and their families deserve better.

We have spent alot of time arguing about two of those words. I think God would want us to be more concerned with the last 3.
