More Seattle Pics

As promised here are some more camera phone pictures from my recent trip to Seattle.

Seattle PigThe city definitely has Seahawk and Super Bowl fever. There were signs of the championship team everywhere.

This is one of the city's mascot pigs at the World Famous Pike Place Fish Market decked out in full Seahawk colors.

Mack StrongWe also got to see Seattle's starting fullback Mack Strong signing autographs at the market.

It's a little hard to see from the pictures, but his name fits him very well. The only name more fitting would be "Brick S. House."

Mack Strong 2He looks as strong as a Mack Truck. It seemed like he had his shoulder pads on under his jersey.

Fish MongerIt was fun to see the fish mongers throwing fish at Pike Place Market. Despite the look in this picture, their enthusiasm is contagious.

However, the fish mongers couldn't compare to the colorful and fun staff that we met at the Archie McPhee Superstore. The store was filled to the brim with the oddest assortment of delightfully tacky items.

The Ballard area where the store is located had many cool stores and cafes.

Archie McPheeArchie McPhee's had everything from their catalog and website including the largest assortment of Devil Ducks I have ever seen.

Raging Red would have had a field day.

StarbucksFinally, with the weather being wet and rainy, I have a new appreciation for all of the coffee shops.

There seemed to be one on every block. We enjoyed several including Caffe Ladro and a nice place in Ballard where I made the mistake of ordering a "medium" hot chocolate instead of a "Grande".

The barista looked at me with a perplexed look and said "What size!?"

My cover was blown. She knew I wasn't the essence of hipness that I thought I was. Although, I don't think I am quite as stupid as she thought either.

Starbucks 1971These pics are from the very first Starbucks, founded in 1971.

It was a nice little shop, but I wouldn't have predicted that it would grow into an international phenonemon based on this store.

All in all, it was a very fun trip, especially spending some time on another adventure with one of my best friends -- Mom.

Go SEAHAWKS!
