President Bush came to town Wednesday, driving right past the building where I was attending a meeting earlier in the afternoon, on his way to an elite $2100 a plate fundraiser for Congresswoman Shelley Moore-Capito.
I didn't see the motorcade, but several friends were on the Southside Bridge as the President sped by, and at least this time, free speech wasn't limited to a geographic area on the other side of town from the President.
The Charleston Gazette has posted a nice video segment capturing the moment and the authentic voices of those who disagree with the President exerting their First Amendment right to do so. I am sorry that I didn't make arrangements so that I could join them.
