The Thrill of Victory and the Agony of Defeat, the Human Drama of Athletic Competition...
So much for that football game in Arizona tonight. The greatest sporting competition on this date occurred in the Fellowship Hall of Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church in Huntington, WV.
After weeks of hard work and preparation, the annual Troop 21 Pinewood Derby was held. Tiger Cubs, Wolf Cubs, and Webelos competed in multiple heats watching their personally designed speedsters race more than 20 feet in head-to-head match-ups throughout the afternoon.
In the end, Jake finished in 2nd place for the Tiger Cub division, which saw some of the closest races of the day. Ultimately this division also sent on Jake's best friend, Tiger Cub Sage P. into victory lane as the overall Pack Champion. Another close friend, Max McGinnis, won the Wolf Cub division too.
It was a fun day, and I am super proud of how well Jake did -- both in working hard on his car and for showing great sportsmanship cheering for his friends and fellow competitors.
