If you look closely in this story from WOWK-TV you'll see a quote from yours truly reacting to Senator Obama's speech in Charleston Thursday morning.
It was nice to be able to chime in, despite my friend's good-natured claim that I am a media whore. :-)
Unfortunately, my attempt to offer a Lakoff-esque response wasn't aired as completely as I would have liked. They did include my reference to electability and change, when I referenced my conservative and Republican friends (you know who you are) who have expressed positive comments about Senator Obama.
When the reporter asked about my thoughts regarding the recent discussions of race that had been raised in the campaign. I pivoted away from that topic and responded that it was an unfortunate distraction from the real issues of the campaign including those that Senator Obama discussed this morning.
I tried to emphasize the fact that the continuing occupation of Iraq has had huge costs for our nation; for the military families and our men and women in uniform, as well as causing the economic recession where we now find ourselves, but those remarks are somewhere on the cutting room floor.
Guess I'll have to keep looking out for those cameras and microphones to get a second chance.
