If you've been following my Twitter updates, you may be wondering what all this talk about a "flash mob" means?
Check out this video of a great flash mob featuring 20,000 people celebrating the opening of Oprah's 24th Season during a Black Eyed Peas concert in Chicago.
Francie Zimmerman of the Doris Duke Foundation mentioned this at last week's national Strengthening Families Summit as an example of how Strengthening Families (and child abuse prevention) efforts are spreading across the country.
On the day of the concert, a relatively small group of dancers taught others the choreography and soon the crowd of 20,000 was able to join in a complicated dance routine with stunning results. Similarly, prevention advocates are sharing information with others in West Virginia and across the country, as we build a national movement to eliminate the abuse and neglect of our nation's children.
Together, we are all part of the flash mob that supports children and families, and "I gotta feelin' it's gonna be a good, goodnight future."
UPDATE: Here's a link to an article in the Parthenon with photos of the Marshall University Flash Mob with Jamie Oliver that I was part of on Wednesday.
