Ryan Wins GOP Veepstakes

Congressman Paul Ryan is about to become the Republican Vice Presidential nominee. In case you don't know him, he's best noted for being the architect of the "Ryan Budget" which would change Medicare into a voucher program for senior citizens to buy private insurance instead of sustaining their current insurance coverage through Medicare.

In reporting about the Ryan plan last year, the not exactly liberal-leaning Wall Street Journal said:

"The plan would essentially end Medicare, which now pays most of the health-care bills for 48 million elderly and disabled Americans, as a program that directly pays those bills." -- Wall Street Journal, April 2011

Rep. Ryan also got in hot water last year for attacking AARP as a "left-leaning pressure group".

Plus, this article notes his accusations that U.S. military generals were lying during their Congressional Testimony.

Ryan wants to increase military spending above their current levels even more than the Generals have requested and even though we have 2 large scale wars that are ending. He would pay for the increase by slashing current social service programs for children and families.

Cutting programs for kids, calling generals liars, attacking the AARP...

Gosh, he sounds like a GREAT candidate to gain support among Independent women, veterans, and senior citizen voters. #sarcasm
