It's been quite a trip to San Diego. We had a blast, and now we're enjoying a nice holiday weekend to wrap up our vacation that was tagged on to my conference.
A few nights ago we had a great time eating at Kansas City Barbeque in San Diego. In addition to having delicious barbecue, it is the location for the "sleazy bar scene" in Top Gun.
It was fun seeing where Tom Cruise, Anthony Edwards, Meg Ryan and Kelly McGillis filmed their scenes.
The staff was very friendly and invited us to take pictures and even play the piano from the movie. (Yes, Jake is wearing a luchador wrestling mask in the picture.)
Jake and I had fun pretending we were Goose and Maverick.
Great balls of fire, isn't the resemblence uncanny?
Carol even "Lost that Loving Feeling" at the bar.
Don't worry, she didn't have an adult beverage just enjoyed the atmosphere.
We saw the jukebox, which according to the bartender "was broken 8 years ago".
A waitress chimed in "If you had to hear 'Lost that Lovin' Feeling' 20 times a day you would've broken it too." :)
It was definitely another fun memory for the family.
More pictures from the filming of the movie are available at the
